Omar's passion for Health Care ...Hello, I’m Omar, a health care professional from Venezuela and I’m still pleased that I chose this profession because it has been extremely satisfying.
Health care is always going to be essential to our society, because a healthy nation it is a wealthy nation. People get ill, accidents and emergencies arise and hospitals need to diagnose, treat and manage different types of situations and diseases every single day. That is one of the reasons why I chose to work in health care. I wanted to do something challenging in my life, I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives.
Every day I try to make that difference by giving the best I have for every single patient. I feel that we, health care professionals, are in a unique position to give a positive impact on the lives of so many others. That’s what satisfies me the most about my job, the impact I can have on patients, families and even communities. You can be that one person that helps them through a difficult time, and that is a very pleasant feeling.
Another reason why I chose health care is because the medical field is exciting, fast-paced and ever-changing. Every day new patients require your expertise, so your day will never be dull, and you will never experience the same scenario twice.
If you are ever in doubt whether a profession in health care is something for you, stop it! Just follow your dreams! I can tell you that there is nothing more satisfying than helping people. Your life will always be exciting and every day will be different. The medical field also needs more enthusiastic people because it is expected to grow rapidly over the next few years. Personally, I feel that as a healthcare professional, you will enjoy more options and better job security than in any other profession. The reason for that is that health care is not a trendy field, but a field that we will always need.
If you are still in doubt after everything I’ve just told, take a look at the week of care. It is such a great example of how the whole medical field functions and how everyone should work together.
The last thing I want to say is that many of people’s aspirations and desires cannot be met without longer, healthier and happier lives. We, health care professionals, are proud to be a part of that.
Omar, thank you so much for this beautiful article and for giving us a different look on health care! Good luck with all the differences you will make in people’s lives!
